WILDERNESS and REMOTE FIRST AID Training
What is this?
This is a wilderness preparedness course designed for outdoorsmen, those participating in any high-adventure activity, or any situation when emergency care is delayed such as a post-storm or post-disaster event. This course takes “Wilderness First Aid Basics” to a new level, increasing the chance for survival following any delayed-care incident.
When is this?
March 22-23 - 8:00 am through 5:00 pm
This course will include 16 hours of classroom and hands-on scenarios based on actual situations over two-days (Saturday and Sunday).
Lunch will not be provided – please bring your own lunch. (There are basic kitchen facilities available – sink, microwave)

Can I take this course?
Prerequisites to the course include:
- A minimum age of 14
- Current adult CPR/AED certification (This course is NOT for CPT/AED certification)
- Physical ability to participate in all activities
Your certification will be valid for two years.
Why should I take this course?
The original “Wilderness First Aid Basics” was developed by the Transylvania County Chapter of the American Red Cross in Brevard, NC in cooperation with the Boy Scouts of America. This new course and similar courses are now essential training for Philmont, Northern Tier, Sea Base, and The Summit participants. It is also ideal training for the camper, outdoorsman or anyone who may find themselves in a delayed-response situation.

Due to the complexity of the course, the size of the class is strictly limited. Pre-registration and payment is required to secure your attendance in the class.
The discounted price of the course is $125.00 per person and includes use of textbook and supplies, Red Cross certification card and a custom patch for your uniform or collection.
